I have these memories of being young and wearing turtlenecks growing up in Connecticut. I knew it was going to be a cold day when I would see my Dad wearing his turtleneck because it was usually reserved for skiing. Years later, I remember seeing Audrey Hepburn wearing a turtleneck in some editorial shots and thinking, who knew a turtleneck could be so chic! In fact, who knew it could be sexy?
After seeing those shots, I was sold! Turtlenecks are one of those classic pieces that has withstood the test of time. The tissues turtleneck is one of my favorites because it is the perfect layering piece and can be worn under basically anything. This winter, I have been layering turtlenecks under dresses, sweaters, vest and even button-down shirts. You should ALWAYS have a black and white turtleneck as part of your winter wardrobe and if you feel so inclined, you can also try some of the jazzier versions I’ve seen lately; stripes, polka dots…you name it! Why not just have fun with it?!? Winter needs all the help it can get!
