Cool Culottes

It seems silly to put the words leather and spring in the same sentence but it’s actually quite normal to wear this fabric while transitioning into spring. For example, today, it’s 40 degrees and raining but it is technically spring and I see a tree blooming with cherry blossoms. Oh spring, she is trying really hard to come out and bring on that beautiful and much needed sunshine. While she tries, we can test out the various new trends of the season.

The Combat Boot

Thanks to good ole Doc Marten, the combat boot has always been really cool and fashion forward. I have to admit I wasn’t ever really a Doc Marten gal, but this season, I’m ready to branch out and try what you all have known about for years. I am all about the flat boot this season so the combat boot is a great fun option that seems to go with just about every outfit. Here are some of my favorite picks of the season:

Menswear Moments

This season is all about shopping in the men’s section! We all need a little change every now and again, so what better way to switch things up than shopping for clothes inspired by menswear? It’s time to toss those dresses and skirts aside and explore your inner fashion tomboy. Lately, some of the most sought after women’s fashion trends are heavily inspired by men’s outfits; think oversized clothes, pinstripe suits, blazers, oxfords, brogues and tailored trousers (just to name a few). Designers throughout the world are creating looks for women that are similar to those found in the men’s department, however, many of these looks have a slight feminine touch. Whether it is the fabric, print or texture, it seems as if designers have created a chic line of menswear for women. There is something so elegant and beautiful about a woman dressed in luxurious menswear. Let’s just say that Katherine Hepburn was way ahead of her time! She is the perfect example of how to make menswear look feminine and sexy. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

The Camel Coat

The camel coat is a luxurious fall fashion staple that should be present in everyone’s wardrobe. It is a timeless piece that I consistently wear during the colder months as it is looks fabulous in any variation and can be paired with just about anything in your fall wardrobe. I like to think of the camel coat as a luxurious fall uniform; an outwear icon. It is also the key transitional coat that can easily take you from those crisp fall nights to cool winter mornings. This camel coat has truly stood the test of time and continues to be one of the hottest trends amongst some of the most respected high-end fashion designers. Everyone from Katherine Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe to Madonna and Beyonce has been seen wearing the infamous camel coat.

One of my favorite aspects of the camel coat is its color; warm, neutral and flattering to all skin tones. Plus, it is extremely versatile and there are so many ways to style it out. Here are five stylish and effortless ways to wear your camel coat.

CASUAL YET CLASSY –

A camel coat will take any outfit to another level. Try styling it out with a pair of jeans, a cowl neck sweater, booties and you’re good to go.

BUSSINESS-

Time for work? No problem. Slip into any dress, put on a pair of classy pumps and off to work you go.

LADIES WHO LUNCH –

In need of that perfect outfit for a ladies lunch? Try pairing a patterned pencil skirt with a solid colored turtleneck and some statement jewelry. If it’s a bit chilly outside, layer up with a classic denim jacket. This another one of my favorite looks.

Valentines Day Cozy

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and you know what that means for me? A new set of jammies, chocolates, flowers, romantic movies and, and, and, ha ha!! I was recently at the new Nordstrom here in NYC and found these super cute waffle PJ’s that I couldn’t resist.

I really have a thing for pajamas and have accumulated so many pairs that I wear a new set every night! Check out some of my favorite sets and have a Happy Valentine’s Day!

The Turtleneck

I have these memories of being young and wearing turtlenecks growing up in Connecticut. I knew it was going to be a cold day when I would see my Dad wearing his turtleneck because it was usually reserved for skiing. Years later, I remember seeing Audrey Hepburn wearing a turtleneck in some editorial shots and thinking, who knew a turtleneck could be so chic! In fact, who knew it could be sexy?

Winter Pastels- 3 Pink Sweaters to Cheer up your Winter Blues!

Happy New Year! I know I am a bit late but I think that you are free to use that expression for the whole month of January, right? Lol. Not sure about you but for me, this time of year is rough. The holidays are over, the new year is here and it’s time to fulfill our resolutions. The days are shorter, the the weather is gloomy and I can’t help but want to spend a little extra time watching Netflix. (P.s. have you watched The Politician yet?!?! OMG it’s amazing, love love love! Add it to your must-watch list).
