Back to school this September has been “back-to-school and then back-to-home.” There have been so many holidays and school closings!
The kids and I decided to take advantage of one of their days off, and explore our city. We decided on visiting the Brooklyn Carousel, located in the DUMBO section of theBrooklyn Bridge Park. We’ve been to this area before and have had a blast! You can make a whole day adventure out of visiting this part of the city.
I would like to add in a little side note here… MY CHILDREN DRESS THEMSELVES!!! I have decided that I have bigger fish to fry in the world of parenting!! Plus, it’s fun to see them show their own personality and creativity through the outfits they choose.
We beelined to the carousel and to our surprise, it was closed for a matinee!!! HA! Go figure. That’s ok, there are plenty of things to do in the park. The views of the water, the city and the bridge are just breathtaking! We decided to head over to the other side of the park, on the pier, where the ferries come in. There is a whole strip of fun food places that are all very kid friendly. Shake Shack, Italian places and Grimaldi’s! Naturally we went right to Grimaldi’s to get our pizza and had a little park bench picnic.
The kids came across a really cool water park and jumped right in. (I always bring a handy change of clothes!!) After they dried off, we found, hands-down, the best ice-cream I have ever had! And I, my friend, have had A LOT of ice cream! The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is worth the trip!! The best part of the day was the trip home on the NY Water Ways Ferry that took us across the Hudson right back toSouth Street Seaport where we walked home! All in all, it was an amazing day. I can’t wait to go back!
This look for me was all about transitioning into fall. I bought all of these great tunic beach dresses for the summer. I figured, why not wear it over a pair of my favorite jeans and turn it into a fall look? This allows me to continue wearing these summery pieces!
