The Dreaming Tree wines hosted a magnificent summer soiree last week in the heart of the East Village in Manhattan. Not only was the wine wonderful, but the space was truly magical. I was 2 glasses of wine in before I realized that I was toasting to summer in the middle of a cemetery, yes… you correctly…a cemetery!
You would think it would be slightly creepy however it wasn’t at all! The event was held at the New York Marble Cemetery, which made the event cool and historical.
Moving on to Dreaming Trees…Dave Matthews and award-winning winemaker Sean McKenzie created a collection of approachable, food-friendly wines and gathered us together to celebrate summer in one of New York City’s best-kept secret gardens (or cemetery haha).
For the first time, guests met Dreaming Tree co-conspirator and Dave Matthews Band Head Chef, Fiona Bohane, as she introduced her new Recipes from the Road – a collection of dishes created by Bohane and inspired by the cities visited on tour with Dave Matthews Band. The event highlighted select Recipes from the Road dishes, including a grilled halloumi with strawberries, zucchini caprese with tomato vinaigrette, Mediterranean chickpea cakes, steak with braised white beans, and pulled chicken with blackberry BBQ sauce.
Winemaker Sean McKenzie invited guests to taste through The Dreaming Tree portfolio and paired select wines with Bohane’s dishes throughout the event. Guests were also introduced to the just released Dreaming Tree 2015 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, a new fresh and juicy summer white with tropical fruit aromas and flavors of grapefruit and lime.
I must say, I ONLY drink Sauvignon Blanc (I am such a creature of habit). This was truly a magnificent wine and I so look forward to buying this over the summer and enjoying it with friends! It’s the perfect summer wine !
