Santa Monica Pier
This past spring break we travelled to Los Angeles to visit family. Whenever we take a trip to the West Coast, we always make sure to leave some time to visit the Santa Monica Pier. From the easy parking to the wide array of carnival games to the beautiful ocean view, it is a perfect day trip for the family.
Opened in September 1909, Santa Monica Pier has become an iconic national treasure. Known in the olden days for being a fishing hotspot, over time it has developed to a fun attraction with the old school arcade games and hot dog carts.
The more recently opened Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is a fun amusement park home to twelve attractions. There is the world’s only solar powered Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, a 55 foot high steel coaster and lots of rides targeted at the little ones. The kids had so much fun exploring Pacific Park and there was never a dull moment. It has all the fun of Disney but is much more convenient without the crowds and endless lines, plus with the bonus of an ocean view.
Santa Monica Pier has it all. Whether you are looking for a day of thrills with their roller coaster or want to dine out with a view there is something for everyone. Live in L.A.? Visiting L.A.? If the answer is yes, this summer the pier there is a free summer concert series every Thursday kicking off on July 7 that you should be sure to check out!
