With hot sunny days just around the corner, I was in need of some new summer staples! As I’m sure you all know by now, Bloomingdales on 59thstreet is my go-to department store when I’m searching for the latest trends. The store is so easy to maneuver, the staff is beyond helpful and Forty Carrots on the 7thfloor is one of my favorite places to enjoy lunch (and a frozen yogurt).
Although bright colors are all the rage, I was in search of some classic linen pieces. Linen was made for the heat because it’s an extremely breathable and highly absorbent fabric. When the weather gets hot and humid, the last thing you want to do is wear clothing that makes you sweat more. The light weave of linen allows more airflow, which makes you perspire less.
I also love the fact that linen can look both dressy and casual depending on the accessories. You can wear it to the beach with a flat sandal or out to dinner with an espadrille and statement earrings.
I found this linen skirt and cami while walking through the Eileen Fisher section at Bloomingdales. There is something so chic and classy about an all white look in the summer. I’m also loving these espadrilles because they are extremely comfortable, very versatile and the perfect height. I don’t normally wear wedges but this pair looks great with just about any look!
If you are in need of new summer clothes, make sure to opt for some linen pieces. Linen is extremely durable and will last you for many summers to come!
