Practice Makes Perfect

While we are all cozy at home, I decided this would be the perfect time to go through my makeup drawer! Dun dun duuuun!! I know this is a daunting task…trust me, I am with you! Did you know that makeup expires!? Yup, it has an expiration date just like the can of tuna that’s been sitting in the back of your pantry for who knows how long!? LOL. Will that tuna still be edible this time next year, probably, but why risk it? Same thing goes for makeup! That blush that you’ve had since you went on vacation two years ago…time to get rid of it! So start cleaning out your makeup drawer!

Also, take this time to practice because practice really does make perfect! I have been using this amazing Urban Decay palette to practice my smokey eye. Practicing your makeup is actually a great way to take your mind off of what’s going on in the world and well, make yourself photo ready for your next selfie. My Husband said to me, “where are you going”? after I had finished my smokey eye. I said I was going to Instagram…lol! Happy practicing! Below are some of my favorite easy all in one eye shadow palettes:

Makeup Monday Self-Care

I am not sure about you all but boy of boy, now more than ever, I am in need of some major R&R, skincare and self care! It’s been such a stressful week filled with uncertainty for all of us.

For me, and I’m sure for most of you, the new “normal” starts today. The next few weeks of quarantine are going to be about homeschooling, reconnecting with loved ones and filling those empty slots of time with things you enjoy to do! Whether it’s Facetiming an old friend or reading that book that’s been sitting on your shelf for months…take a little time for yourself!

I am going to dive into my self care routine. These eye masks are everything and so easy to use while working relaxing. I like to put them on after the shower, before coffee and let them stay on while I sip my hot cup of joe and plan the day. Whether you are tired, puffy or just need the hydration, there are plenty of eye patches that will do the trick. Below are a few of my favorite brands that can be delivered straight to your home. Stay safe and healthy!

Pool Proof Makeup

Just because you are poolside, it doesn’t mean you can’t still look like your fab self despite the heat and sun! I have makeup for every occasion and my vacation/ poolside makeup game is just as important to me.

I have specific things that I use to block the sun and and stay looking cool and refreshed. EltaMD makes a great tinted SPF moisturizer that I have been using for years and absolutely love! The tint is just enough to cover any imperfections while evening out skin tone and the SPF 46 blocks all of the harmful rays!

My lips are always the first to burn so I always use gloss/lipstick with SPF to prevent sunburn while keeping my lips moisturized with a cute rose tint. Because you are always wearing sunnies at the pool, not much is needed for the eyes but never forget to curl your lashes and apply waterproof mascara. Color on the lips is the most important and a great cream blush applied to the apple of the check is also poolside perfection. Below is a list of my favorite poolside products to keep the sun out and the fun in:

Makeup Monday Headbands

I’m not one to invest or buy into a brand new trend unless I know it’s going to stick around. I was late to jump on the headband trend but turns out I wasn’t late because it’s clearly not going anywhere! No matter your age or hairstyle, the headband is a statement that is here to stay. Not to mention this is the perfect way to hide the inevitable bad hair day. Here are some of the headbands I recently added to my closet:

3 Must Have Eye Shadow Brushes

Whenever I get my makeup done by a professional, the first thing I notice is how many brushes they use throughout the process. I recently invested in some MUCH needed eyeshadow brushes and they have made a world of difference. It has made my makeup application process so much easier, the shadows glide on seamlessly and blend to perfection!

These are my three must have eyeshadow brushes:

This Laura Mercier All Over Eye Brush is my everyday go-to! I mainly use it for applying a solid shadow but it can also be used for adding color on your lower eyelid if you are going for a smokey eye look. Whether you are going for a day to day look or trying to achieve a smokey eye, you will 100% need this brush!

My absolute favorite brush is the MAC 240S Large Tapered Blending Brush. Besides blending shadows, this brush softens and sharp edges or harsh lines. You need to make sure your blending brush is tapered so the tip fits into the crease of your eye. Whether you are a professional makeup artist or just beginning to play around with shadows, this brush will be your best friend!

Last but definitely not least is the Chanel Les Pinceaux Dual-Top Retractable Brush. This brush is super easy to use, it’s ideal for lining your eyes with total precision as well as keeping your brows brushed and on point!

Hair Dryer

The perfect at home blowout starts with clean hair a really good blow dryer and the right products! (Trust me, I learned the hard way).I used to have a really short L.O.B. (long bob) and I found it so hard to style my hair. I was always getting my hair professionally styled. Now that I have a L.L.O.B (long, long bob lol) it’s much easier to manage, hence the at home blowout.

Berry Lips for Fall

It’s fall and that means gorgeous dark natural hues…time to get serious people. The leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping and we are starting to wear our sweaters, leathers and woolies. This all means that it is time to bring back the dark berry lipstick.

Our summer tans have faded and we are all getting ready for the holidays because believe it or not, they are right around the corner! Yes I said it, they are minutes away! Looking for a fun fall pick-me-up to compliment your pumpkin spice latte!? Look no further, try applying a berry lip.

Tip – keep this look fresh and modern, less is more when wearing a bold lipstick. Let the bold berry lip be the show stopper and wear minimal makeup on the rest of your face. The key to makeup is focusing on either bold eyes or a bold lip. Both at the same time is way too much! Check out some of my favorite bold berry lipsticks:
