Recently, I transported myself back to 1962! We ALL know (hello Elvis) that this is my favorite era…obsessed with everything from the 60’s; music, culture, men and of course, the fashion! When I heard the the infamous TWA hotel had been refurbished and was open for business, I had to see it for myself! For those of you who aren’t farmilir with the TWA Hotel, click here for the history. Has anyone seen Catch Me If You Can with Leonardo DiCaprio? This hotel was featured in that movie and many others.
The hotel was built in the 60’s as sort of a cool lounge for travelers to grab a drink and hang out during their layover. The cool retro vibe has withstood the test of time. It’s honestly the coolest time capsule, complete with 60’s music, candy, soda and magazines straight from that time period. I am so thrilled that this hotel has come back to life and I can not wait to get back there to enjoy the pool in the warmer months! Did I mention that the pool overlooks the runway? Amazing! Ohhhh right, the outfit…I was channeling my inner retro lady, complete with leather shorts, oversized earrings and of course a 1960’s signature turtleneck!
