Rank and Sugar

I have always been a huge fan of army jackets! I wear mine on a daily basis throughout spring, fall and even on breezy summer nights. The army green gives of a casual yet chic look that pairs well with anything AND it gets me out of my jean on jean jacket routine.

My love of army jackets started years ago when I first moved to NYC and loved trolling through vintage shops in search of authentic army/navy apparel. I bought a vintage navy peacoat 20 years ago and STILL wear it every winter. The name of the officer who originally wore the jacket is still inscribed on the inside and it makes me proud to wear such an amazing part of history.

I recently came across Rank and Sugar, a fab company that sources authentic, vintage M51 combat jackets and redesigns them into wearable art! Isn’t that incredible? She gives these historic jackets new life! The Rank and Sugar team pairs each jacket with unique fabrics, textiles and embroidery. Each pocket is made from vintage scarves and they also attach stainless steel dog tags individually made with a WWII stamp machine by a US Veteran. They also customize jackets so you can be a part of the whole design process. I had a phone call with the owner of Rank and Sugar, Suzanne Ehrlich, and she asked me about my likes and passions… of course, Elvis came up, so she stitched fun Elvis quotes on my jacket.

I am honored and thrilled to own my very our custom Rank and Sugar jacket. It’s really fun when fashion and history collide into your very own custom piece of history! Thank you Rank and Sugar for keeping our soldiers in mind! Pride, gratitude, respect and devotion…that’s what America is all about! My father, father-in-law, uncle and grandpa all served our great country! Every time I wear this jacket, I am reminded of them and how proud I am to be related to people who served our country.
