With the holiday season in full swing and only a few short weeks until Santa comes, we decided to check out the fun holiday activities NYC has to offer. For years I have heard amazing things about the Holiday Train Show at the Botanical Garden in the Bronx and we finally had the chance to see the exhibit! Before heading to the Bronx, we stopped at our favorite restaurant, Lure Fishbar in Soho. They have the most delicious food and just started offering a brunch buffet and egg bar. PERFECT for the kids! You know how kids want their food immediately when they get to a restaurant? A buffet is the perfect solution! No wait time and the kids get to pick exactly what they want to eat! Kingsley is finally at an age where we don’t have to bring a stroller everywhere we go. Woohoo!! Except now, of course, her baby doll somehow needs a stroller…so instead of dealing with a tantrum, baby (and her stroller) came along with us on our family day out! Her baby (and stroller) slowed us down considerably, but on the positive side, Kingsley carried all her stuff in the stroller, which totally lightened my load! PERFECT!

After Brunch we all jumped in the car and made our way to the Bronx to see the holiday train exhibit. Cash falls asleep as soon as we get in the car; I love it! He’s always on the run so it’s nice when he sits down and re-charges his batteries. Kingsley on the other hand… UGG No sleep for her!

IMG_3683We finally get to the Botanical Garden and Josh drops us off at the front to buy tickets while he parks. Of course, Cash has to pee and there is NO bathroom in site. To top it all off…don don don…Kingsley has to check babies’ stroller because there is a huge sign that clearly says “NO STROLLERS ALLOWED”. Go figure! Kingsley mommies up and decides to let us check the stroller as the woman assured us she would take very good care of her baby! Once baby (and her stroller) were situated and Cash found a potty, we were off! What a cool exhibit! All of the displays are made from natural materials; acorns, wood bark, grass, sticks… its really quite a site!  It was so neat to see all of the different NYC landmarks made from these materials.

After we finished seeing the exhibit, we headed outside to look at the gardens and gingerbread tent. What a perfect way to finish our day; drinking hot chocolate and eating yummy treat while looking at the beautiful botanical gardens. I have to say, they had great sweet treats and a bonus taco food truck. What better than treats and tacos?!? The day ended with a beautiful sunset that quickly turned into a crisp night. I highly recommend heading out to the Bronx to see this great exhibit. This, my friends, is what memories are made from!
