Whiteface Lodge

Whiteface Lodge is the most beautiful property located in Adirondack Park, about a 5hr drive from NYC. I haven’t been to this area in years but I do have fond memories of visiting Lake Placid and Olympic Village when I was a kid. For years I have been hearing about a spectacular lodge located in upstate NY and it’s been on my bucket list to stay here for quite some time. I finally made it and no picture can do this lodge justice or capture its beauty. It is truly a serene getaway where there is something for everyone. Whether you are a nature lover or more inclined to head to the Spa, Whiteface Lodge is a place you must visit. The resort offers every activity imaginable including bowling, a movie theater, ice-skating, wellness classes, a full service spa and delicious restaurants (just to name a few).

If you are looking for a quick getaway or just need to escape the hustle and bustle of living in the city, Whiteface Lodge is the ideal place to visit. The best way I can describe this lodge is “cozy chic”. It has a wood-beamed exterior and cast iron fireplaces. It is located in the heart of Adirondack Park on Lake Placid so the view is truly incredible! On my drive up here, it started snowing and to my delight, when I arrived, it was a winter wonderland.

While checking in I learned some history about Whiteface Lodge and I was so surprised to learn that it was the vision of a former Olympian and developer who wanted to create one of the most grandiose properties in the Adirondacks. The lodge wasn’t completed until June 2005 and the majority of the timber was hand-milled on site in order to create an authentic ambiance. Well, to say the least, they definitely succeeded! It is absolutely breathtaking to walk around the property. I almost felt as if I was transported back in time and was able to forget about my day-to-day worries while simply relaxing!

My girlfriend and I stayed in a beautiful three-bedroom suite complete with a living room, kitchen and even a washer and dryer. There are 94 guest suites all of which are decorated with a cozy Adirondack ambiance including handcrafted furnishings, cast-iron fireplaces, radiant-heated floor and the plushest beds you will ever experience.

Our perfect day started off with a delicious breakfast overlooking miles of stunning fresh snowfall. We then made our way to the skating rink for an unforgettable experience. There is nothing like skating in the great outdoors while it’s snowing! We then took the lodges shuttle to Main Street and explored the village of Lake Placid before heading back for a delicious lunch. We then treated ourselves to massages in their beautiful spa followed by a dip in the heated pool. Have you ever been swimming while it’s snowing outside? Well, it’s a true winter treat!

We then had dinner at Kanu, which is one of the restaurants on site that includes an open kitchen so you can watch the culinary team prepare delicious American Cuisine. The Christmas tree in the dining hall is incredible and rivals the tree at Rockefeller Plaza; a true site to see!

All in all, it was such a relaxing treat and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! Make sure to follow my Instagram stories to get the full experience.
