Bedtime Stories

Bedtime stories are a fond memory of my childhood. I remember looking forward to picking out my books and reading it over and over.

My poor parents must have gotten sick of my constant requests to read the same book! I recall being old enough to read along with my parents. And now, reading books to my own children brings me back to that special place.

I love sharing with my children some of the classics that I grew up with, such as “The Little House,” “The Snowy Day,” and “Goodnight Moon,” to name a few. It’s also fun to discover new books as a family–“Knuffle Bunny” takes place in our very own New York City! It’s also amazing to watch how things evolve; the very books that I was reading to Cash only a few years ago, he is able to now read to his sister. It is magical.

Reading to a child is so important, as I’m sure we all know. Studies show it increases academic excellence. Additionally, they learn important language and pronunciation skills. Finally, just by watching you, they also learn the basics of how to read a book–reading from left to right, etc. But the best part is the quality time you get to spend with your kids. That, my friends, is priceless.
